BI AND REPORTING
Business intelligence services built around decisions
Our business intelligence services start with the decisions your managers make each week, then build the metrics and dashboards behind them. Every number has one definition, one owner and a traceable source.
Metrics Sprint
- Metric dictionary agreed with business owners
- One priority dashboard rebuilt on governed data
- Reconciliation notes and a ranked backlog of reports
WHY IT MATTERS
BI consulting that starts with the question
A dashboard nobody opens is an expensive screenshot. We talk to the people who make decisions, agree what they need to see, and build only the views that change an action.
CAPABILITIES
What our business intelligence services include
Metric definitions
A shared dictionary for revenue, margin, utilisation and churn, agreed with each team and enforced in the data model.
Dashboard design and build
Clear dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, Looker or Metabase, designed around the questions each role asks most often.
Semantic layer setup
One governed layer of measures and dimensions, so every report and every tool calculates the same numbers the same way.
Self-service analytics
Curated datasets and short training sessions, so managers answer their own follow-up questions without waiting on the data team.
Report migration
Move reports from Excel, legacy BI tools or manual decks into a maintained platform, with numbers reconciled before switch-over.
Plain-language queries
Let staff ask questions in plain English over governed data, with the underlying query shown so answers can be checked.
USE CASES
Dashboards that earn a daily visit
Utilisation for professional firms
Law and CA firms track billable hours, realisation and work in progress by partner, client and matter every week.
Shop-floor production tracking
Manufacturers see output, scrap and downtime by line and shift, refreshed hourly from machine and quality systems.
Revenue view for leadership
One view of bookings, renewals and pipeline, reconciled with finance so board packs match the figures in the CRM.
Delivery health for IT services
Project margin, utilisation and milestone risk across accounts, so delivery heads act before overruns show up in invoices.

WHY SMARTX
Why SmartX for Business Intelligence
One number, one meaning
Metrics are defined once in the model, so two dashboards never show different revenue for the same month.
Designed for the reader
Our data visualization services follow simple rules: fewer charts, clear labels and the key number placed where the eye lands first.
Usage drives the backlog
We track which reports people actually open. Unused ones are retired, and effort goes to the views that drive action.
Tool-neutral advice
We build in Power BI, Tableau, Looker and open-source tools, and recommend based on your existing licences and team skills.
TOOLS WE USE
The stack, chosen per problem
ENGAGEMENT MODELS
Choose how we work together
Every model keeps the same signed gates, fixed milestones and full code ownership.
Gated delivery pod
A senior pod owns the outcome from Problem Brief to production, priced per gate so you can stop at any signature.
Dedicated engineers
Engineers who join your team and sprints, with PRISM briefs and evidence reviews added on top of your process.
PRISM OPS retainer
Hosting, security and a monthly improvement budget, run by the same engineers who built the system.
SELECTED WORK
Evidence, not promises.

FAQ
Questions before you book
Not covered here? Ask on the call.
Which BI tool should we use?
If you already pay for Microsoft 365, Power BI is often the practical choice. Tableau and Looker suit other stacks, while Metabase or Superset keep licence costs low. We recommend after looking at your users, data and existing licences.
Why do our reports show different numbers?
Usually because each report calculates metrics its own way from different extracts. We fix this with a single data model and agreed metric definitions, then reconcile old and new numbers before anyone switches over.
Can you improve dashboards we already have?
Yes. We review current reports for accuracy, speed and usage, fix the data model underneath, and redesign the views people rely on most. Reports nobody opens are flagged for retirement.
Can managers ask questions in plain language?
Yes, once the data model is clean. We add plain-language querying over governed data and show the generated query, so answers can be checked. Without a clean model, these features give confident wrong answers.
